Staff Spotlight

Some of the best students and teachers in Louisiana are right here in Gueydan, and we think they deserve some recognition, so this is our chance to get to know them a little better. This is our GHS Staff Spotlight on our new high school English teacher, Mrs. Amber Dubois!

How long have you been teaching? How long have you been at Gueydan High?

I am a new addition to the Gueydan High community. My teaching experience as involved several groups and several cities. Most of that time was spent in Diocesan religious education and youth education on Life Ethics. I am optimistic this experience will be an asset to the Gueydan High staff and students!


What was your favorite subject when you were in school?

My favorite mandatory subject in high school was Math. It came to me so easily. The other subjects required more work and study. My favorite elective class was band! I was a total band kid. If I was not in a mandatory class, I could often be found in the band room hanging with my friends or practicing for the next audition/competition.


What do you love most about being a Gueydan Bear?

I am a brand-new Bear but I am excited to join the team! I have found all the staff to be incredibly supportive and helpful in helping me to get integrated, especially as I am starting out in the middle of the year. Thank you for being so welcoming and patient!


What's the farthest you've ever been from home?

South America! My husband and I spent some time there during out honeymoon trip!


What's your favorite team(s)?

New Orleans Saints (Who Dat!!)


What does leadership mean to you?

To coach, guide, and inspire others. I believe a leader's focus should be on supporting and helping their team succeed.


If you could go back in time to when you were your students' age and give them advice, what would it be?

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% perspective.
