Gueydan’s 2022 Homecoming festivities got under way on Sunday, October 30 with the Powderpuff Game, where the Senior/Freshman girls’ team overpowered the Junior/Sophomore team in a 16-0 affair.
Kyndal Hanks was the MVP of the Senior/Freshman team, scoring a pair touchdowns on long scampers to the outside in each half.
Amyah Levi provided a spark for the Junior/Sophomore team with some strong work in the running game, but in the end, the Senior/Freshman defense was too stout. Levi very nearly scored a touchdown on a dazzling 40 yard run as time expired, but she was stopped yards short of the goal line by Freshman Kennedi LeBlanc, who never gave up pursuit and preserved her team’s shutout.
Because of the win, coaches from the Senior/Freshman team will pie the coaches from the Junior/Sophomore team during Friday’s Pep Rally.
Before the game began, members of the Gentlemen’s Court were introduced, and during halftime of the game, Principal Nadine Lepretre crowned Senior Hayden Meaux the 2022 Gueydan High School Homecoming King.
